The Benson School District had various annex school rooms located thru out the county.  According to Jack Perry, one of the Benson Schools was located between Patagonia and Nogales.  In 1908 not many, autos and school buses existed in rural ranch areas of Arizona Territory – I would imagine that they had to wait for the school’s stage coach to come by or saddle-up and gallop off to school...

Rail X Ranch – early 1900's ...on his way to school?

On May 25, 1916, Pete Perry married Alda Marie (Davidson) Perry, b. 11/3/1900, d. 2/21/1993.  The Davidson families were from Ohio before moving to the Southern Arizona - they were friends with Minnie Fenter’s family and things have a way of coming around on the cattle ranch.

Alda Perry & Alfred

Pete, Alda and their three sons, “Al” Alfred William Perry, Leslie Herbert Perry, Sr. and Jack Gordon Perry, lived on the Rail X Ranch, until Oscar Ashburn died in 1924.  After the Rail X Ranch was sold, all the Perry’s, with their new families moved with Glen Perry to the Santa Cruz River Ranch, near Nogales.  Minnie (Perry) Ashburn moved to Tucson with her Fenter family.
